Douglas Nolan Mersier Jr (born August 23, 1980 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and producer. He is part owner of Music Capitol Records LLC., and Music Capitol Records Publishing LLC.
Douglas "Rockboy" as he is known under his assumed name, has been professionally writing songs and producing records since 2002. He has produced tracks for or written songs for or with; Kelz, Self Centered, Krystal Giles, India Tuck and Zion Christian Church, Mack Avenue, Ja'Vese Cardoni, Vina Mills, Rock Nation Band, Psalms 150 Orchestra, Amy Brennon, 1st Samuel, Patrice Williams, Royce 59, Y.B.I., The Game, Chemeria, Melissa Diane, Kyyah Tuck, Big Chief, Elijah Conner, Tykera, Seejai, Cedric Berry, Marcus Devine, Deiorio Q Reed, Gemi Swagga and Samiyyah Dixon.
Mersier has secured various licensing agreements with a number of artists ranging from rhythm and blues, rock, hip hop, alternative, Christian and Christian alternative. Mersier is also making a name for himself as an arranger and background vocalist lending his talents on several songs he has written, co-written, and produced. Mersier has remained behind the scenes for the most part as a bassist and background vocalist being a former member of the band, Rock Nation from 2001-2007. He is now slated to embark upon his solo career as pop/rock/soul recording artist, Nolan "Rocket" Mersier with a debut EP currently untitled and scheduled for release early 2010. The recordings will showcase a vivid imagination, cutting edge production, life experiences, creative songwriting ability, and contagious vocal and epic music melodies. With only a select group of co-writers from M.C.R. Publishing's team of A-list writers, it should have fans and future fans yearning for more.
With numerous appearances across the country, Mersier has performed on stages with a plethora of other recording artist, performers, and entertainers. These performances range from bassist for N.A.A.C.P. Children's Choir to being the music director for Universal/Motown recording artist Suai. He has also been seen worldwide, broad casted on the international stage of Bishop T. D. Jakes "Megafest" with a live audience of roughly ten thousand viewers. During the NFL Super Bowl 2006 held at Ford Field Detroit, Mersier performed Maxim Magazine's annual super bowl party held at Detroit's legendary Orchestra Hall, sharing the stage with the likes of Wyclef Jean and Miri Ben-Ari. Recently, he hit the stage of Detroit's Heart Plaza during the annual Ribs & Soul Festival July 2009, as the music director for Billboard charting and nation recording artist Kelz.
