Cedric Berry

Cedric LaCarl Berry was born in Detroit, MI, to Samuel Berry Jr. and Carolyn Berry. Being born into a family with vast musical capabilities, Cedric instinctively embraced his musical gift.

At the tender age of 10 while attending Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church of Detroit, Michigan, Cedric fell in love with the music ministry under the leadership of his brother, Samuel Berry III. Cedric clinched his first instrument, the saxophone, while participating in the arts in 5th grade.

In time, Cedric began to saturate himself in the church’s music ministry. His father, Samuel Berry Jr. motivated Cedric to learn to play every instrument he could.

At age 13, Cedric experienced his first musical production, playing the saxophone on New Mount Moriah’s Church album “Shekinah Glory”. This experience preceded other projects such as: Greater Ebenezer’s Church album “Fire”, which Cedric co-wrote the album title song; The William H. Murphy III Project, co-writing the single song “Awesome”. This was the beginning of what has evolved into an undying passion to create music that invigorates the hearts and minds of listeners.

In addition to being a celebrated member of the successful Christian rock band, “Rock Nation”, Cedric has also shared the stage with several other distinguished artists such as: R &B artist “Wyclef”, Gospel great “William H. Murphy III”, “Kirk Franklin”, “Shana Wilson”, Fred Hammond, Bishop Paul S. Morton, Deitrick Haddon and many more.

This unshakeable desire to create music birthed a vision to establish what is now Music Capitol Records along with his partner Nolan Mersier. During many visits to the Motown Museum in Detroit, in 2006 Cedric was inspired to make a change in music by getting back to the original spirit of Motown. Cedric wanted to produce music that aided in building people emotionally, spiritually, and socially.

With Cedric’s ability to infuse classical melodies into rich, pop and soulful productions. the up and coming projects are sure to score with fans and critics alike. Set to release Music Capitol’s first label project, “Meditation of Thine Heart”, and one in the chamber, this dynamic musical mastermind is ready to deliver.
